Prep work stinks!!!

Today is 'prep' day for our weekend vacation to the Twin Cities. It seems like each time we decide to visit the cities I promise that I am only taking two suit cases (one for us, and one for the girls), the diaper bag, a play pen (we have one at Chad's parents' house already), and just a few odds and ends and the van is always packed before I even know it.

I have to make the 'famous' Target/Walmart trip to get the final items that I don't have such as, an unopened package of diapers, some car snacks, etc. Plus of course I am still doing mine and Chad's laundry... it never ends :)

Our 'goal' is to be on the road about 5:30am tomorrow so that the girls can still sleep in the car and we can still have a 'day' for Friday in the Cities. We can't wait to see our family out there as it has been too long... we haven't seen one of our nieces since THANKSGIVING last year :( Thankfully we will get to see her on Sunday...and we will also see our other niece and nephew pretty much all day Saturday :)

Wish us luck as we are traveling with our 3 munchkins :) Hope you have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend :) I will update as soon as I can, and will also share the video/pictures from our 3/4D ultrasound being done on Saturday.

What goes around comes around.... Ha-ha

Another "Delainey funny".... For the past month or so, whenever something would go 'wrong' or someone would do something naughty Delainey was consistantly blaming one friend--- who 99% of the time wasn't even here. Well her friend's mom called me the other day and it seems that at least this friend is getting his redemption as it seems that Delainey filled his shoes with sand this past week :)

Kids are just too cute!!!!

Angels or Savages....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=476669&in_page_id=1879&in_page_id=1879&expand=true

Apparently this woman (who is a mother herself) has written a book named "40 reasons NOT to have children".... she has been quoted on saying things like "Kids are just too much work" and "They aren't worth the hassle".

Apparently this woman's children never looked at her with that twinkle in their eyes that just 'SCREAMS" I love you mommy.... or wanted only her after having gotten hurt.

If someone were to ask my my greatest accomplishment in life it would be hands down my CHILDREN.... do they drive me crazy some times ? Most certainly ! Do I miss sleeping in until noon on weekends.... HELL YES! Do I miss the extra money that was ALWAYS in my checkbook and savings account... OF COURSE... would I want to go back to my 'childless' days in which I now know my life had a HUGE section missing.... NOT FOR ALL THE $$, sleeping in, and sanity in the world.

I LOVE MY CHILDREN AND THEY ARE MY LIFE!!!!! Part of me wants to get on a plane and fly to Brussles just to SLAP this woman because I know SEVERAL women who would GLADLY accept her "not worthy of the time" children..... Realize the blessings you have woman and SHUT UP!!! *yep, I will get 'yelled' at by my 3 year old for saying that but it is worth it..... WHY you ask? Because it shows that my child was WORTH MY TIME to teach manners and respect to*

DAMN!!!

I just got a call from our clinic... the girls' beloved doctor has turned in her resignation. We are very sad to see our beloved doctor go. She has done so much for us and with out her the first year of the girls' life would have been so much harder for us.

At least now we can hook up her girls with ours for play dates :)

A cry for help.....

Injustice in Jena, Louisiana

Last fall in Jena, the day after two Black high school students sat beneath the "white tree" on their campus, nooses were hung from the tree. When the superintendent dismissed the nooses as a "prank," more Black students sat under the tree in protest. The District Attorney then came to the school accompanied by the town's police and demanded that the students end their protest, telling them, "I can be your best friend or your worst enemy... I can take away your lives with a stroke of my pen." A series of white-on-black incidents of violence followed, and the DA did nothing. But when a white student was beaten up in a schoolyard fight, the DA responded by charging six black students with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. It's a story that reads like one from the Jim Crow era, when judges, lawyers and all-white juries used the justice system to keep blacks in "their place." But it's happening today. The families of these young men are fighting back, but the story has gotten minimal press. Together, we can make sure their story is told and that the Governor of Louisiana intervenes and provides justice for the Jena 6. I

t starts now. Please join me: http://www.colorofchange.org/jena/?id=2477-98512

The noose-hanging incident and the DA's visit to the school set the stage for everything that followed. Racial tension escalated over the next couple of months, and on November 30, the main academic building of Jena High School was burned down in an unsolved fire. Later the same weekend, a black student was beaten up by white students at a party. The next day, black students at a convenience store were threatened by a young white man with a shotgun. They wrestled the gun from him and ran away. While no charges were filed against the white man, the students were later arrested for the theft of the gun.
That Monday at school, a white student, who had been a vocal supporter of the students who hung the nooses, taunted the black student who was beaten up at the off-campus party and allegedly called several black students "ni**er." After lunch, he was knocked down, punched and kicked by black students. He was taken to the hospital, but was released and was well enough to go to a social event that evening. Six Black Jena High students, Robert Bailey (17), Theo Shaw (17), Carwin Jones (18), Bryant Purvis (17), Mychal Bell (16) and an unidentified minor, were expelled from school, arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder. The first trial ended last month, and Mychal Bell, who has been in prison since December, was convicted of aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery (both felonies) by an all-white jury in a trial where his public defender called no witnesses. During his trial, Mychal's parents were ordered not to speak to the media and the court prohibited protests from taking place near the courtroom or where the judge could see them. Mychal is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31st, and could go to jail for 22 years. Theo Shaw's trial is next. He will finally make bail this week. The Jena Six are lucky to have parents and loved ones who are fighting tooth and nail to free them. They have been threatened but they are standing strong. We know that if the families have to go it alone, their sons will be a long time coming home. But if we act now, we can make a difference. Join me in demanding that Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco get involved to make sure that justice is served for Mychal Bell, and that DA Reed Walters drop the charges against the 5 boys who have not yet gone to trial. http://www.colorofchange.org/jena/?id=2477-98512

PLEASE HELP THESE BOYS.... and join in with this "fight"

I'm Invisible....

A friend emailed this to me today, and I thought I should share. It puts things into perspective for me and even helps me to make sense of them. Especially, after this past weekend when I was questioned several times at a cousin's wedding about "JUST staying home"..... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

I'm invisible.

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, "Can't you see I'm on the phone?" Obviously not.

No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible.

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this? Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, "What time is it?" I'm a satellite guide to answer, "What number is the Disney Channel?" I'm a car to order, "Right around 5:30, please."

I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude - but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's going, she's going, she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my out-of-style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut butter in it.

I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, "I brought you this." It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription: "To Charlotte, with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees."

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, "Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever see it." And the workman replied, "Because God sees." I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place.

It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, "I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become."

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, "My mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table." That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, "You're gonna love it there."

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

A Delainey funny....

Today my aunt and uncle came over with three of their four kids (ages 11, 8, and 6) and the kids played while the adults visited. Well my aunt told the kids to get ready and go and get in the car, it normally takes the kids about 15 minutes to get ready....

Well today the kids went rather quickly and were in the car in a matter of moments.... Delainey came running into the living and said "Uncle and Auntie, Your kids are leaving you?!?!?!".... Needless to say we all got a good giggle. :)

This is why I DON'T clean

the play room floor.... Shelby of course had to walk into the room before I could take her socks off and the floor has JUST finished drying from having been washed with Murphy's oil soap, so it was nice and slippery.
Pretty happy for having just taken a digger ....

Poor kid!!!

Downside to smaller 'city' living

Today through the 'rumor' mill of Bismarck, I heard that the girls' beloved pediatrian may NOT be coming back from her maternity leave. So as any good mom would do I rushed home from this information and called the clinic. Well from what I understand nothing has been said officially, and that unless we get a call to reschedule our Sept 12 appointment for the girls (they have their 20 month check up) we should just assume their doctor is coming back.

It is so hard to be a parent of children when there are NO PEDIATRICIANS in town... We were able to get into Dr. Connell only because the girls' were NICU kids, if it hadn't been for that we wouldn't have even gotten her. None of the docs at either of the two clinics are taking new patients and it is just frustrating.

Don't get me wrong, we love our family physician that takes care of Chad and I, but our doc has even said that while he will and can care for the kids when they are little he prefers not to 'deal' with the many issues of infancy, especially when something like prematurity is involved.

We hope and pray that our beloved Dr. Connell comes back, but the mom in me can't help but relate to the idea of wanting to be home with her children. I just hope it isn't something like hospital not wanting to give what she deserves. Afterall maybe there is a chance if she does decide to be a SAHM she can join MOMs Club :) Hey... you can't blame a girl for trying.

Busy little Brody

A few weeks ago I was all concerned with the 'lack' of feeling movement of the baby. I would break out the doppler and would 'hear' him moving around but be worried because I couldn't feel it yet.... well if this kid's actions inside are a preview of his actions on the outside I am in for a trip.

Most of the day, I don't feel a whole lot because we are so busy etc but the MINUTE I sit down after the girls are in bed it is like romper room time.... like I don't have a hard enough time sleeping already, but now he is waking me up and then preventing me from going back to sleep already.....

This is so 'new' to me... the girls were all fairly lazy and even when Shelby and Avery 'were' active there was no room for them the have a blast so movements were limited.... it is a fun new, but I am not so sure I am going to like it when the kid can really pack a punch/kick etc...

Even sick

My kids are still cute!!!! Well ok at least I think so....
Shelby's sad 'attempt' to smile for the camera

I almost think Avery MEANT to have that finger up... LOL

Pictures of the girls

Ok, so Delainey missed the lecture from daddy about no sandles or dresses (or should I say PAJAMAS) and always having a helment when riding a motorcycle....

Don't they just look like they are up to no good.... LOL. In pictures like this I can at least start to 'think' they at least look related--- sisters no, but maybe VERY DISTANT cousins LOL

20 weeks 2 days belly shot and Brody's Heart beat

Chad MADE me take this picture...since I did it with the girls' pregnancies. I am just glad that others (meaning NOT my mom or Chad) have noticed that I am pregnant and just not "fatter' than before. Although part of me is a bit scared... I was 'this big' with Delainey at her version of term...(36 weeks) and PLEASE ignore the goofy look on my face Delainey was making faces behind Chad taking the picture and Chad REFUSED to retake the picture...

And as promised here is a video of Brody's heart beat (sorry the video is black, but I refused to let Chad actually record my fat belly). Sorry for the static and kicks but this kid HATES the doppler.... towards the end you can hear a really strong "thump thump" without too much static. ENJOY!!! I know we do :)

Spoke too soon

Well it would seem that I spoke too soon. Delainey is better but Shelby and Avery seemed to have started a new round of "Who can get the highest fever before Mommy starts to FREAK"... so far Shelby is the clear winner with 104.5.

Thankfully the fevers are coming/staying down with Motrin every 8 hours and Tylenol every 4...the only time we see a spike is after a nap/sleep time.

Hope everyone else is feeling well.....

Almost afraid to post....

but I think the sickness may FINALLY be leaving our household. Delainey is a little sneezy, but she always is. She has been running and playing and acting like a chicken with it's head cut off all day. Shelby and Avery are also on the up and up. We have had no fevers or vomit from them since early yesterday and I think they are over it.

YAY.... as Chad said earlier...now just the waiting for US to get it... LOL

Fevers and the ickies

Well we just got back from the doctor (WE MISS Dr CONNEL) and well apparently it is completely normal for 2-19 month olds to walk around the house looking like the living dead puking and having fevers of 100+ , and for my 3 year old's lips to be slightly blue.

I did however get a lecture on why my 20lbs 19 month olds are on pediasure and that I really need to start being concerned about the possiblity that we are giving them too many calories.... Did I mention we miss Dr. Connel????

Puke and fevers... oh let the good times roll

Its seems that since yesterday my children have become actresses from several horror movies in which the zombies walk around like the dead (hallowed/sunken eyes, black circles under their eyes and just lifeless) puking all over heck.

Tomorrow the plan is to TRY and get all three of the kids seen by a doc, but the chances of it being an actual pediatrician are slim because our ped is still out on maternity leave..... I don't think she understands how much we miss her ;) Hopefully we will have a better idea then what I was given as Delainey's dx tonight at the walk-in-clinic... I took her in because I couldn't get her fever below the 103 that it was for like 4 hours (tried both tylenol and motrin--- NOT GENRIC either) and it wasn't coming down. Well while we were there she happend to cough (ONCE MIND YOU) and it sounded croupy, so what did they do??? Brush off the fever for ONE LITTLE COUGH, gave her a breathing treatment as well as a dose of some prednisone (sp??)... do we know why she STILL has a fever of over 100 degrees??? Nope... but hey at least she hasn't coughed since... (insert a serious EYEROLL here)....

Hope everyone else is well.... The Krumwiede Sickies

Back from our 19 week appointment

We had our 19 weeks appointment today, and we got the "BIG" ultrasound that everyone looks forward to. We are happy to announce that the baby is happy, healthy and VERY ACTIVE. The tech could hardly get some of the measurements because the baby was so busy moving. We are 19 weeks 2 days and the baby is measuring 19 weeks 1 day and is 9oz, which is right where it should be. We got some really good pictures of the arms, legs, and even a really cute one of the baby's hands clasped.... to cute.

Here is the whole body shot of the baby.

Here is the baby's profile

Oh, that's right you guys probably want to know the gender of the baby and of course the name as well. We are happy to announce that we are having a

BOY!!!!!!.
And his name will be Brody Allen Buell Krumwiede :) So aside from the Buell which of course is the 'mandatory' motorcycle/vehicle name, he will have the same initials as his Uncle Brian :)
Feel free to offer any advice for 'boys'....because gosh knows we don't know what to do with them around here... HA!!

An UPSIDE to toddlers....

We have recently transitioned Shelby and Avery from their liquid vitamins to "my first" flintstones and let me tell you it has been going so well. In fact if the girls see either Chad or I taking a pill or even eating sun flower seeds they come up and say "min" "min"... SO MUCH BETTER than the knock out drag outs of holding down a baby and forcing them to drink this foul smelling liquid that would stain EVERYTHING thing in a delightful yellow/brown color.

SO WOOOHOOO for flintstone vitamins!!!!

Video of the girls' swinging

Moms Club Open House Pictures

Each year MOMs Club of Bismarck/Mandan has an open house in which we like to invite the community's Stay at home moms to join us in our wonderful club. In fact the Open House was how I got involved in MOMs Club in 2005. I have met so many wonderful people and formed some of the best friendships I have had in my life through this club. The members have certainly helped us through rough times and I am happy and proud to be a member.
Today's event had a WONDERFUL turn out and of course I couldn't have been happier when I saw a vehicle pull up with the license plate "4myTWINS"... in fact my heart skipped the beat at the thought of having some 'twin friends' for our girls (aside from my cousins' children who we rarely see because of schedules and their cousins for the same reason). The girls from that vehicle are 3 years old and Delainey was 'on them' like white on rice. She was so impressed with the idea that 'twins' can play with her... (hey give her a break, the poor kid knows 4 sets of twins and none of them play 'with' (meaning what she wants them to) her). The second set of twins to arrive were identical twin girls just one month younger than Shelby and Avery --- and I would like to point out that they are all about the same size WOOHOO!!! The four little girls played wonderfully together and we look forward to getting together with them again.... we can't wait.
Here are some pictures from the day at the park :)

Shelby was NOT impressed that I stopped the swing to take a side view picture

Seriously... lets go...BOTH of the girls leaning forward thinking it would make the swing move :)

Could the kid look more "Krumwiede"... she is certainly ALL HER DADDY... gotta love her tan though don't you... I know I am jealous!!!

She was saying "weee" when I snapped this one

Shelby's turn with saying "weee" but she of course had to 'add' the hands from when she goes down her slide :)

Happy (yea I know big shocker there) Shelby

Shelby in the car on the way to the park

Avery's saying "CHEEZE".... (Avery isn't near as chubby as she looks in this picture, the camera was REALLY close to her in the car)

Delainey "BEFORE the tennis shoe to the eye (she accidently walked in front another child swinging at the park and got pegged right in the eye with a foot)

After:... if you look closely on the very right of her eye, you can actually see the 'imprint" from the kid's shoe... it is kind of 'funny' now that we KNOW she is ok... :)

Prayers Please-- update one

As many of you know, Chad and I used to live in the Twin Cities in MN. Well yesterday was a horrid day for the Twin Cities area. A bridge on 35W (a very heavily traveled section of the freeway system) collapsed. At the point of the latest press 7 have been killed and at least 28 have been hurt. 20 people were/are still missing as of last night when they had to 'call' the search because of darkness and the currents of the Mississippi river. Sadly, we fear that those people will probably be added to the death toll. Please keep all these families in your prayers.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070802/ts_nm/bridge_collapse_dc

Please pray for all the families who are affected by this. This has been especially hard on me right now because I am horrible with 'what its' and of course after learning that our friends and family were safe freaked out because "IF" we had still lived in the Cities, Chad would have probably been on that bridge (we lived in Minneapolis and Chad travled that section 4 times if not more a day)....We of course are happy for our families, but are sad for those who are not as lucky as we. It just makes me sick to think of these poor families. Please raise them up in your prayers.

Thank you

UPDATE #1:
It seems that at this time 8:50am on Thursday that the death toll is 4 not the 7 previously stated, the injured is in the low 80s and there are roughly 30 people unaccounted for at this time. Divers are now searching the Mississippi river looking in the cars that are beneath the wreckage. Families waiting at the 'survivor center' were notified at roughly 1am that the mission has changed from rescue to recovery at this point. Please continue to keep these families in your prayers. Thank you- The Krumwiedes
