Happy Holidays 2010

*this is our 2010 Holiday card and Holiday Letter, they will be going out in the mail, but wanted to share it heres well*

Happy Holidays 2010
Wow! 2010 is already coming to an end, and honestly I cannot believe that it is almost over. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting at the computer writing last year’s holiday letter. It has been another fun and exciting year at our house.

Chad is currently working at Coventry (has been since 2008) and is really liking it. This past summer he was able to completely rebuild a bike as a project and you could tell that he had a lot of fun taking something was complete junk and turning it back into a really nice motorcycle. It was a fun project for him and a cousin of mine… he was really proud of it.

Delainey is 7 and currently in the 1st grade and loving it. She has been staying really busy with swimming (all year) and she really enjoyed soccer over the summer. We missed the registration dates for fall soccer, but we have it on the calendar for spring. Delainey was able to participate in a special “Demonettes’ dance camp this fall, she really enjoyed it. She is enjoying 1st grade and all the new challenges that have come with it. She does miss the ‘free’ time that was more available in kindergarten but she is doing really well. It is shocking to see what 1st graders are learning… I mean she can read already. It is great and thankfully she is really smart and it comes fairly easy to her.

Shelby is in her second year of preschool and having a really good year so far this fall... She currently receives occupational therapy once a week for her SPD and it continues to help a lot for her sensory issues. She is doing well in school and thankfully she has teacher who understand her current needs/quirks. The school year is going so much better this year because of her amazing teachers.  Shelby is also active in swimming lessons and is doing really well.

Avery is also in her second year of preschool. She is doing amazing! She is kind of a little stinker in that she likes to ‘pretend’ that she doesn’t know what is going on a lot and in fact we were really concerned for awhile about her educationally…that is until we went to her conferences this past October and learned that our daughter has almost reached all the milestones for the year…and it is only October. She definitely pulled the wool over our eyes.
Shelby and Avery will turn 5 the day after Christmas.

Brody is well… Brody.  He is certainly all boy and doesn’t quit…ever. The kid wakes up every morning and 5am and does not stop until he goes to bed at 7:30pm. He is very talkative and has an amazing vocabulary for a 3 year old. He loves watching football and is obsessed with anything motorcycles or cars. We are currently working on potty training and well, it’s not going well. I am fairly confident that he will go to kindergarten in diapers… but it goes with his personality. He is currently enjoying having two friends who come over to play M-F for a few hours each morning and he really misses them when they are gone. Brody will turn 3 on December 4th.

I am still in the Social Work program at Minot State University, and also a member of my Student Social Work Organization here in Bismarck. I am really enjoying it and the projects that they do. I have cut my class load to ½ times so that I can focus a bit more on the children and their activities and give more to school than simply just getting it done. Plus I don’t want to go back to work full time until Brody is in kindergarten so I want to stay in school to stay ‘up’ on the changes in social work. I am currently the President of MOMS Club of Bismarck and am really enjoying it, but I am fairly certain that this will be my last year involved as a member of the board. It is fun to connect with other moms in the Bismarck/Mandan area but with Brody going to preschool next fall and such it is becoming time to turn the reins over to the ‘next’ group of members. They are going to do awesome!  I have also become more active in some Special Education groups in Bismarck. You wouldn’t believe the number of families that struggle to get their children the appropriate education that they deserve simply because someone else isn’t doing their job. It is heart breaking. I have met so many amazing people because of this and it has certainly lead me into a new direction with my forever career.

As a family we had an exciting 2010. We were given the honor of being the 2010 North Dakota Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes. We had a lot of fun participating in the walks in Minot, Fargo and Bismarck. We raised over $5000 as a family team at the Bismarck walk and Delainey was given an amazing honor of being one of the top 250 youth walkers in the country! She alone raised $826 for the March of Dimes.  She not only received the Top Youth Walker Plaque at the Bismarck event, but she also received a special pin and letter from the March of Dimes office in New York. We are very proud of Delainey.

Here is to an amazing holiday season and a very happy new year! I know that there are certainly changes coming for our family! Merry Christmas!

Happy 4th Birthday Shelby and Avery

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girls... I still can not wrap my mind around everything that happened the evening before and the morning of your births. To see you guys sitting on the couch eating (more) cookies and watching tv has me in tears. The three of us (Shelby, Avery and Kristin) really did beat death that morning... if it wasn't for the skilled doctors who finally realized what was going on for all of us, things certainly would have taken a different turn... but thankfully God was watching out for all of us that morning, and you (and I) am here together with you daddy, Delainey and Brody too. God is good... we are so blessed.

Shelby:
You are an amazing little girl... no matter what comes your way you go at it head on and you figure out YOUR way to get it done. These past 18 months have been a struggle for you but you are coming out/through stronger and braver and tougher than you were before. There is a reason you are so very strong willed... you need it and God knew that. We are so very thankful to get to be your family. Mommy, Daddy, Delainey, Avery and Brody love you more than you can ever fully know or understand. HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY SHELBY!!! WE LOVE YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH!!!

*I wasn't allowed to see the girls until late into the evening on 12/27 so this isn't a birthday picture*

Avery:
Sweet precious Avery... you started out in our family as being the 'trouble maker' with all the acid reflux, ear infections etc and now you are the one of the kiddos that requires the least amount of time or attention. It is far to easy for us to 'forget' when it is your turn or when its your time because you just want everyone to be happy. Your tender little heart is wounded far to easy but yet you still have that precious smile on your face. You are our little mommy making certain that everyone else is taken care of putting yourself last...You are such a strong and amazing little girl. You are our 'go with the flow' girlie and our family is so very lucky to have you in it. Mommy, Daddy, Delainey, Shelby and Brody love you so very much girlie girl...more than you know... HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY AVERY!!! WE LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

Happy Birthday Papa...

Today was a rough day... today would have been my grandfather's 72nd birthday. I had this awesome plan to take the girls to get balloons and take them to the cemetary and put them on his grave along with a cup cake. I ended up going by myself.... I couldn't bring them. They have never been to the cemetary, and I wasn't sure how to explain why we were visiting some dirt on Papa's birthday when they know he is in heaven... they were never told the 'legistics' of what went on.
So here I am in my car with 1 mylar balloon and 6 latex balloons, and a cupcake. I start to pull up the drive way of the cemetary and I get about 1/2 way up the hill and I can't go anymore. I actually had to reverse down the driveway because I couldn't do it.... I just couldn't. So instead I drove for a bit north of town, pulled to the side of the road, wrote a little note and attached it to the balloons, stepped out of my car, removed the weight from the balloons and just let them go....and the cupcake you ask??? I left it by the side of the road too. Not exactly where I had planned to let everything 'go' or be placed... but it was where I 'let it go'....
Happy Birthday grandpa... I hope heaven is as wonderful as you believed it would be... You are missed and loved...our hearts are still broken, but we will NEVER NEVER EVER forget you. WE LOVE YOU PAPA!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Today is also my mother-in-law's birthday. We were unable to attend the family dinner this evening (obviously since they live 500 miles away) but we are planning on being in the Cities in two weeks so we can celebrate with them then.

Happy Mother's Day to me... FROM ME!

Thank you to my children….

It was my babies that made me a mom! It is because of these precious miracles that I have the one ‘name’ that I wanted so fiercely growing up. All I ever wanted to be was a mom…. I know that today (Mother’s Day) is supposed to be about celebrating mothers…but today… I celebrated my children.

There are so many days that I look out at the world and see all the yuck and nasty…but then I look at those two sets of precious blue eyes, one pair of purplely hazel and that one pair of chocolate brown eyes and I see things differently… I see the world through their eyes. I see the amazement of being 5, 3, 3, and 17 months… the WONDER that is there…

So today on the day that I ‘should’ be celebrating myself… I am celebrating them BECAUSE I AM THEIR MOM!!! And I am so very blessed to be that if nothing more… I will ALWAYS be my precious babies’ mom…ALL OF THEM!!!

Easter egg hunt pictures

Because of the fact that there is still alot of water (and dog poo) in our yard the egg hunt was done differently than it has been in the past... so we had to make due. Also to avoid the fighting (do you have ANY idea how loud a 5 year old and two 3 year olds can scream in that high pitch paint peeling tone when they feel they have been wronged??? Dear lord...) we made the rule of no baskets...each child got to find one egg at a time and bring it back to the main bucket and then once all the eggs had been found they would split the loot evenly.... The pictures are in nor specific order... ENJOY!!! Oh...and NO our girls didn't have 'fancy' Easter dresses on...they went with the 'comfort' style since it was just us staying home....

HAPPY EASTER!

We hope that everyone is having an amazing holiday today. We will be spending the day at home having a pretty low key day since we had planned on having Chad's parents here for the holiday but they called Wednesday and said they weren't going to be able to make it. The kids of course were crushed... I guess we learned a VERY valuable lesson from this... DON'T TELL THE KIDS GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ARE COMING UNTIL THEY ARE ACTUALLY IN THE DRIVE-WAY... you would think we would have learned from this in the past *this isn't the first time this has happend to the kids....but I promise you it will be the last*
We have an amazing egg hunt planned *Thank you Nana Janet and Grandma W* so I hope to be able to take some pictures of that... I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the baskets that the Easter bunny left but we have several awesome quotes from the kids regaurding them:
Delainey:
"How come the Easter bunny gave us apple juice mom? Shouldn't he have given us carrot juice instead??
Shelby:
"I thought the bunny brought chocolate....not swimming sunglasses" (the kids all got new goggles for swim lessons that start this coming Saturday)
Avery"
"Did the Easter bunny poop in our house???"
Gotta love kids right?? I'll post some pictures of the hunt later today...
Hope you all have an amazing day!!

HAPPY 4th of JULY

Ahhh... Gotta love it don't you ?!? My sister-in-law Tracy sent me an e-card with this message on it and I thought it couldn't be more fitting than for my 4th of July post and it also goes along with how I will be spending my 4th of July this year. I will in fact be marching in our local 4th of July parade in support of Barack Obama and couldn't be more proud to have the honor to be part of the campaign on my local level.

ok, ok, enough politics...here is our family 4th of July message....

Please have a happy, fun but most importantly SAFE 4th of July...and remember we have the right to be free, but our freedom has come at a cost... pray for our soldiers, their families and of course for our country as a whole...

THANK YOU FOR MY FREEDOM!!!

APRIL FOOLS!!!!

After a few frantic phone calls from some family members we have decided to come clean. THIS WAS IN FACT AN APRIL FOOL'S DAY JOKE!!!

I can't help but question the ann poster who asked if I had lost my mind and then quickly went to congrats.... interesting to say the least... So no we are not pregnant.... But it was a good joke for us. Chad and my sides still hurt from the call with a family member.... HA!

Oh and a few more little tid bits of information for those of you out there :
1. You can get pregnant while breastfeeding...Brody would be an example of this as I was still breastfeeding Shelby and Avery...

2. You don't have to get your period back in order to get pregnant (--remember you have to ovulate in order to get your period) --again Brody would be an example of this...
3.you can get pregnant right after giving birth...-- my mom and one of her siblings are barely about 9 1/2 months apart (mom was born March 1960, Sibling was born Jan 1961--think Irish twins)
4. If we had really been pregnant we would have called our friends and family prior to posting it on the internet....
5. most importantly we hope that we did not hurt anyone with this post, we thought it was funny...sorry if we did
