Crew's Carnival...
A very dear friend emailed me today about her cousin's son. Below you will see information on an event and a little bit about this very special little boy. Please if you can stop by and help this family out. Also, please say a few prayers for this family as it is never fun nor easy to have a child who is struggling with medical issues. THANK YOU!!!

Crew’s Story
Crew Marshall Engel was born September 30, 2007.
Crew’s proud parents are Colin & Heather (Vanous) Engel. Crew has one big sister Luca who is 2
years old and loves her baby brother very much. When he was nine days old, Crew was diagnosed
with Peter’s Anomaly, a rare eye disease, in his left eye at the University of Minnesota. Peter’s
Anomaly caused his eye to appear cloudy and prevented any vision. In December 2007, he was also
diagnosed with severe congenital glaucoma in the same eye.
Crew underwent his first surgery, a Cornea transplant, when he was 8 weeks old. The surgery was
initially successful but the glaucoma caused complications with the Cornea. The incision had to be
repaired twice. Eventually, the Cornea incision healed but the glaucoma caused the tissue to bulge.
At times Crew was unable to close his eye from the high pressure. He has been on several eye drops
to reduce the pressure. None of the medications were successful and some made Crew very sick.
The bulging caused a great deal of scar tissue on his Cornea thus making his eye cloudy again.
On May 7th , 2008, at 7 months old, Crew had his sixth eye surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye
Institute in Miami, Fl. The surgeons performed another Cornea transplant and vitrectomy and
lensectomy to control the glaucoma.
Crew has also needed many exams under anesthesia, and will need many more in the future to
examine his eye. Please join us at Crew’s Carnival to help raise funds for surgical expenses and
travel expenses and to show our love and support for a very courageous Crew and his family.
His continued eye care will be at the University of Minnesota.

My resignation...
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult.
I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year old again.
I want to go to McDonald’s and think that it is a four start restaurant. I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make ripples with rocks.
I want to think that M & M’s are better than money because you can eat them.
I want to lie under a big tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer day.
I want to return to a time when life was simple.
When all you had to know what colors, multiplication tables and nursery rhymes, but that didn’t bother you, because you didn’t know what you didn’t know and you didn’t care.
All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
I want to think that the world is fair, and that everyone is good and honest.
I want to believe that ANYTHING is possible
I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
I want to life simple again.
I don’t want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of housework and laundry, depressing news…
…how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness and loss of loved ones.
I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, justice, a kind word, truth, peace, dreams, love, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So…here’s my checkbook, my wallet, my car keys, my credit cars and all my bills. I am officially resigning effective immediately from adulthood…..
Oh wait…. I can’t go that….. I’m the grown-up….
